The YCW works to create a society, which actively supports, respects and values the God given dignity of each person. We will consciously uphold basic human rights, especially the right to meaningful and just work. We will educate for global awareness and solidarity. Through taking action and reviewing in our communities, young people will discover the deepest meaning and mission of their lives.

World Youth Day 2008

BRAND NEW: YCS AND YCW YOUTH FESTIVAL EVENTS CONFIRMED AND RESERVATIONS OPEN!

Right now Australian Young Christian Students and Young Christian Workers are gearing up for World Youth Day 2008. World Youth Day is a huge week of young people celebrating friendship and faith. In July 2008 up to 500 000 young people are expected to converge on Sydney for the festival, which will climax in a mass with Pope Benedict XVI.

Our Dream

YCS and YCW have an important role to play in the celebrations. Through WYD08 we will:

  • Witness to the lives of young people and the Gospel call to action
  • Engage young people in YCS and YCW
  • Form young people before and beyond WYD08 to create real personal and social change
  • Build solidarity with students and workers around the globe

Our Plan

To make this dream a reality YCS and YCW are:

  • Designing resources to help Australian pilgrims get ready for WYD08.
  • Getting active in dioceses before WYD08, through the Journey of the WYD Cross and Icon and the Days in the Dioceses.
  • Travelling to Sydney with other young pilgrims from our dioceses, schools and parishes.
  • Getting together and getting loud at the Youth Festival in Sydney!

Be part of the action!
